Rough cut analysis

There was an equal amount of good responses and criticisms from most people. Almost everyone commented saying they like the point of view shot of the bike, as this shot got positive feedback we will keep this in our final cut but try and get a better shot of this that isn’t shaky and wobbling all over. Most people liked the idea of Andy (the main character in the narrative, also the drum player in the band) on the bike and in black and white on the other hand the location of the scene isn’t very good because the main focal point in most of the shots is the fence which also makes it harder to concentrate on the storyline, for when we reshoot the narrative we will have to change the location so it still looks like he is on his way to work but only there isn’t anything in the way of the shot like a fence, a possibility for the reshoot is at the quarry because that is ‘forresty’ and there won’t be anything there that will get in the way.

A big criticism of the narrative was there isn’t enough locations, this can make the video boring so when we reshoot the narrative we will need to rethink the storyline and look for ideas that will fit in with the one we already have, also it is hard to understand what the people following Andy are meant to be so next time we will have to change their outfits and maybe put face paint on them to make them look weird.

Most people said that they liked Cahyle (the singer in the band) as he acts like how Alex Turner does however some people said it was hard to see if he was singing the correct words as the microphone was covering his mouth, therefore when we reshoot the performance we will make sure the microphone is lower down so you can see what he is singing. People also liked the lighting on the performance when the light is behind the band, we will use this positive response when reshooting as to shots that will look effective, criticisms of the band performance was cutting to similar shots when editing the final cut we will have to watch this carefully and pick edits that go rather than showing the same thing.

A major improvement for the performance would be to make the instruments match the beat of the song to look like it is actually getting played, especially the drums! To do this we might change the band around to get the instruments that best suit the person, it could also make the shots look better!

For the filming we will have to always use a tripod because in some of the shots they are a bit shaky and out of focus, this could also help improve the quality of the final cut.
